How Do Love Thee? Well, I Don't.

We went to see A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Globe. It was surprisingly awful. Midsummer isn't that great as a whole in my opinion anyway, then they ruined it even further by overshadowing the text with over-the-top, slapstick humor. It was to the point where you couldn't even focus on or understand the words that were coming out of their mouths. And our seats were awful. On the plus side, the costumes were beautiful. It was set in the twenties at kind of a seaside resort and there was linen and v-neck cable sweaters and two-tone spectator shoes and high-waisted pants. However, the costumes really had nothing to do with the performance. They didn't help the characterization at all. Sad. As you can see, Puck was a cabaret singer played by a girl. I didn't get the whole cabaret thing juxtaposed with a 20's seaside resort, but she looked amazing, no?

When we got on the tube to come home, we saw this actor. He plays (played?) Jim Brass on the original CSI. He was reading a book about directing by Elia Kazan.
